THE JUSTIFICATION TRAP
“You Didn’t Fall… You Explained Your Fall Away.”
By Dennis Glaze | Midlife Crash and Burn – Rise from the Ashes
There’s a lie that doesn’t feel like a lie.
It sounds responsible.
It sounds spiritual.
It even sounds… redeemed.
But it’s not.
It’s justification.
And brother…
justification is the language of a man who refuses to burn.
🔥 RED CALLOUT
“You didn’t overcome the sin… you rebranded it.”
THE GAMBLING LIE (AND EVERY OTHER VERSION OF IT)
Let’s not dance around it.
A man gambles.
He loses money.
He feels it.
But instead of confronting it… he says:
“I’ll just give more to God.”
“I’ll tithe extra to balance it out.”
“God understands… I’m still giving.”
No.
Let’s call it what it is.
👉 You’re not honoring God.
👉 You’re negotiating with your guilt.
👉 You’re trying to buy peace instead of becoming clean.
🔥 RED CALLOUT
“God doesn’t want your overpayment. He wants your obedience.”
THIS ISN’T ABOUT GAMBLING
That’s just one mask.
Men do this everywhere:
Porn → “At least I’m not cheating physically”
Anger → “I’m just passionate”
Emotional shutdown → “That’s just how men are”
Drinking → “I work hard, I deserve it”
Neglecting family → “I’m providing, that’s enough”
Pride → “I just know what I’m doing”
Every one of these is the same disease:
👉 Explaining sin instead of killing it
THE PSYCHOLOGY OF JUSTIFICATION
This isn’t random.
This is how the human mind protects itself.
In psychology, it’s called cognitive dissonance.
When your behavior and your values don’t match…
you feel internal tension.
And instead of changing your behavior…
You change the story.
🔥 RED CALLOUT
“You rewrote the narrative… so you didn’t have to rewrite your life.”
THE SPIRITUAL DANGER
Let’s go deeper.
This isn’t just bad habits.
This is spiritual self-deception.
There’s a difference between:
A man who sins and repents
vs.A man who sins and justifies
One is broken.
The other is hardened.
🔥 RED CALLOUT
“Justification doesn’t numb sin… it buries conviction.”
You don’t feel the weight anymore.
Not because you’re free…
But because you’ve trained yourself not to feel it.
THE REAL COST
You think you’re managing it.
You think you’re balancing it.
You think you’ve got control.
But here’s what’s actually happening:
Your integrity is splitting in half
Your identity is fracturing
Your leadership is weakening
Your relationships are eroding
Your soul is going quiet
And the scariest part?
👉 You can still look “functional” while all of this is happening
🔥 RED CALLOUT
“A justified man doesn’t crash loudly… he erodes silently.”
THE PHOENIX LINE IN THE SAND
A Phoenix Man does not negotiate with the fire.
He steps into it.
Fully.
No excuses.
No balancing acts.
No spiritual loopholes.
Because he understands this:
👉 The fire only purifies what is surrendered — not what is explained away
🔥 RED CALLOUT
“Fire cleanses what you confess. Smoke suffocates what you justify.”
WHAT REAL CHANGE LOOKS LIKE
Not this:
“I’ll do better next time.”
“I’ll make up for it.”
“I’ll offset it.”
But this:
“This ends. Now.”
“No more explaining.”
“No more hiding behind spiritual language.”
It’s brutal.
It’s humbling.
It will strip you.
But it will also…
👉 set you free in a way justification never will
BROTHER-TO-BROTHER TRUTH
You don’t need better reasoning.
You don’t need a better system.
You don’t need a more balanced version of your sin.
You need to stop lying to yourself.
Look at the area in your life right now…
Where you’ve created a “reasonable” explanation.
Where you’ve softened the truth.
Where you’ve built a loophole.
That’s the place.
That’s the fire.
🔥 RED CALLOUT
“The man you become will be determined by the lie you refuse to keep telling.”
WHAT’S NEXT
You’ve got two options:
1. Keep justifying it
→ Stay comfortable
→ Stay stuck
→ Burn slowly
2. Burn it down completely
→ Feel it
→ Face it
→ Rise clean
“You can justify the man you are…
or you can burn him and become the man you were meant to be.”
